The quiet of nature, punctuated only by birdsong, the hoot of an owl, and the occasional call of a fox or coyote, pervades over our land. Listen to the wind rusting in the pines or the sound of water as it splashes and gurgles downstream in the many springs throughout the property. This is the music of People to Place, and its melody is one that we look forward to hearing every day.
We share our land with a rich community of beings whom we respect and honour. There is a variety of wildlife here—we have spotted deer, foxes, black bears, fishers and porcupines! All manner of avian, amphibian, mammalian and reptilian friends share this place with us, enriching our daily experience with their beauty and presence. They are our neighbours. and quietly observing them, within a respectful distance, is our unspoken agreement.
The welcoming and friendly people who call themselves Vermonters are proud of their state and love to share its rich cultural heritage and unparalled natural beauty with guests from other parts of the country and the world.
We hope you will have a chance while visiting to make some new friends who call the Green Mountain state home.

We value the time we, personally, make for ourselves to spend in solitude and encourage you in your pursuit and enjoyment of your own way of being alone.
During your stay, your hosts will be in close proximity, as we live in the house across from the workshop and apartment.
We will maintain a friendly, unobtrusive presence while you occupy the Garret Apartment— and are happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.
In the rare instances where you are staying on the land while we are away, we will be available via either email or text.

Most, when thinking of Vermont, think of snow—and, these thoughts are quite correct—Vermont winters are filled with snowy days, bright cold nights, and stark bare tree beauty. WE LOVE THE WINTER HERE and its opportunities for hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in still, white woods, followed by an evening of what is referred to in the Scandinavian tradition as hygge, or coziness— a time for candlelight and woodstoves and hot drinks.
People to Place is accessible in the winter, but we do recommend that your have an all wheel drive vehicle and snow tires, as the driveway to the Garret Apartment is long and uphill.
If you are wondering if Vermont is a place you would enjoy in the wintertime, please feel free to reach out to us, and we will share, in more detail, our winter experiences.

We honour the land that is known and beloved by the First People of the Dawnland, the Abenaki and consider ourselves part of a community of life here. The trees, the soil, the wild creatures around us have inhabited this place for millenia. There is much to learn from the many teachers among us. In that spirit, please become a part of it. Roam the primitive trails, nooks, and resting places within Our Land and the surrounding hillside. Please ask for our trail maps.
